Carpenter VS. Old Door: A Fight to the Death
If you don't make mistakes, you are not doing anything. You recovered quite nicely from those minor flaws from "being human". Outstanding!!!!
Thankyou!!🥰
This item and its matching piece, who is the manufacturer? I have 2 pieces in this style (Federal?). The bead trim and window lattice need work, not sure I should attempt to repair.
The maker is at the tip of my tongue, Malcolm? Believe it’s in the video. I’m not sure if I would call this a true federal. A bit of a transitional piece.
You definitely have a nice chest. Cheers ❤😂
Wow did that ever transform.
As a carpenter and interested in renovation work, I thank you for presenting your experiences and skills, and it is very useful for those interested.
You are very welcome
Absolutely Gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing
You are so welcome!
Originally, I tried to fix some of the items in my household. Subsequent liver damage from another cause, made me wonder if my inexpert exposure to the chemicals. However, there is a wooden furniture repair business in our town, Dekkard and Bix, where I decided to take those damaged chairs inherited from my grandfather who was a master carpenter for the Boston & Maine train. They were able to make the repairs that made the furniture stronger than the original, and restore them to the pride of their original construction. I am glad to see this carpenter protects herself from the damaging aspects of the paint removal chemicals.
Well, again a hot mess transformed. Such a talent, a joy to watch.
You are right, the grain of the veneer is stunning. Excellent work, thanks.
Thank you! Cheers!
Such beautiful work my friend! You’re amazing 🤩 🤩🤩
lol wait it’s you! Thanks love🥰❤️❤️❤️
Why would anyone paint something that has such beautiful wood? Nice job as always.
This is a fantastic job. It looks marvelous. It must be strange looking at furniture in a museum and knowing that it is older than your country!
Yes!
I've no idea why UA-cam sent me here but I am so glad it did. It's reminded me that I got a similar conditioned chair as part of an auction lot (if you want it you have to take the chair!) and it has been in my loft for thirty years. I'm inspired to do something with it now, so you have saved two chairs!
I will restore it but only if you want it back😉❤️
Beautiful!
Stunning!

Absolutely transformed by uncovering the natural beauty of the wood. Well done.
I feel like this is the best it has ever looked. I just love it!
A wonderful overhaul of that classic armchair. Congratulations. 👍
Many thanks!
Is this something you do for yourself or for resale; I cannot imagine how you van recoup your time and still offer the chair at a reasonable price. You technic , tools and expertise are exemplary. You are a craftsman in the best senve of yhe word. Thanks. ... .
No no. All client pieces
Beautiful. Your chair screams “Thanks for bringing out my true beauty:”
You’re welcome 😊
De Portugal a minha admiração por uma EXCELENTE mestre do restauro 👏👏👏👏👏
Thankyou!
After you add the stain to the water popped wood, do you give it a light sanding before adding the finish?
Nope. I give a heavy two coats and then sand lightly. Finish with two more coats lacquer
Well done!
From a bridge job or fire wood to a real beauty 😊
Extraordinary original construction, deconstruction and re- construction . Amazing job - congratulations!
Beautiful chair ❤
Beautiful!❤
How in the world do you keep those gorgeous nails with a job like this! ❤
That is AMAZING! Saved from the landfill.
That is an amazing piece of art that you restored, and in many ways, created. WOW!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful! Great work.
So, that's how it's done?
Great work!!!
Awesome work!
Absolutely inspired.....great repair (destroy first) and refinish video!
Glad you enjoyed it
At 25:10, I like to add a piece of wax paper or something else between pieces, so the block is really easy to remove if the glue grabs it. Maybe it's a waste, but it works for me. I love your work. I only wish i had a 10th of your talent. I always learn things from watching you.
Thankyou!
Wow! Beautiful!
That has come up fantastic!!!
What an incredible transformation. You sure know your wood. A lovely looking chair.
Thank you very much!
A “Phoenix” to pass on for another generation! Bravo 👏🏽
creepy old door sounds ASMR! amazing work, really enjoyed this!
Beautifully restored. 😍👍🏻👍🏻🪑
Super job!
I ❤ that I’ve found your channel! I have an old chest I’ve been afraid to restore, but if I follow your methods, I’m now confident I can do this. I’d love to know where you’re located in Canada. I spend my summers in Saskatchewan. I employed a “John’s Furniture Repair” in Saskatoon..are you them? Thank you so much for the information on Kennedy’s. Will have to visit their site, soon. Again, thank you!
Hi there. Yes that was my father’s shop. I took over his shop this last May
@@johnsfurniturerepair Oh, how lovely! Such a nice man, and he did an amazing...AMAZING job restoring some flood damaged pieces for me. I was so happy to find him, as we have a seasonal home in Demaine, about two hours south of Saskatoon. Zero craftsman around. Can I still find you in Saskatoon? I read that you moved. Thank you for your reply, and your great videos!
I say you win.😃👍 Fabulous work. Again!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the pooch hydration!😂👍
I see you are living "in the boonies"!👍(Me too. 😁) It's the best place to be nowadays.
Back in the 80's we did lots of furniture repairs at the Park Slope Craftsman shop in Brooklyn N.Y.Robert Boily was the proprietor.Great job Trena.
